Beal leaning toward re-signing with Wizards in offseason
Star shooting guard Bradley Beal is out for the season, but he still has a decision to make on his future with the Washington Wizards.
When asked Thursday if it was fair to say he was leaning toward re-signing with the Wizards, Beal responded, "That's fair," according to The Athletic's Josh Robbins.
Beal holds a player option for the 2022-23 season but will be eligible to sign a five-year, $246-million deal with Washington if he declines it, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 27-year-old Beal was averaging 23.2 points per game, his lowest mark since the 2017-18 season, and shooting a career-worst 30% from beyond the arc before undergoing season-ending wrist surgery in February.
Since then, the Wizards have gone 5-7 in 12 games without their franchise star. They sit at 28-33 and 11th in the Eastern Conference, just outside of the play-in bubble.
