Isiah Thomas: Giannis 'would dog anybody in the '80s, '90s, 2000s'
Isiah Thomas is tired of fellow NBA alumni claiming Giannis Antetokounmpo wouldn't dominate in their era.
Thomas came to Antetokounmpo's defense Monday night on NBA TV while discussing recent comments made by Charles Oakley saying the Milwaukee Bucks star would've come off the bench during the 1980s and 1990s.
"Dude, Giannis going around Oakley. Giannis going around all them," Thomas said. "He dunking on them. He bigger, he faster, he stronger. You can talk all that stuff 'cause you don't play no more. You can talk all that stuff 'cause you got gray hair and sitting on the sidelines smoking cigars, (talking) about what you used to do.
"That dude would dog you every single time y'all stepped on the court. Now, you may hit him hard - okay, alright. After you hit him hard, you ain't got no game. You ain't got no game."
Oakley told SLAM's "No Pump Fakes" podcast that he believes Antetokounmpo would've struggled in his era because "they would make him shoot jump shots." However, Thomas thinks Antetokounmpo would dominate regardless of what era he was playing in.
"All y'all stop it with 'he wouldn't dominate in the '80s.' We ain't never seen no dude like this come into our league," Thomas said. "And give him his props, give him his credit. He would dog anybody in the '80s, '90s, 2000s, and 3020 when we get there."
