Report: Nets won't listen to offers for Harden ahead of trade deadline
The Brooklyn Nets apparently don't intend to move James Harden.
Brooklyn won't listen to offers or engage with other teams inquiring about the star guard ahead of the Feb. 10 trade deadline, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Harden has repeatedly told ownership and management he intends to remain with the Nets and win a championship, Wojnarowski adds.
The Beard's future in Brooklyn has been a hot topic, especially since he passed on signing a lucrative extension with the club prior to the regular season starting. Harden - who previously stated it'd be "difficult to leave" Brooklyn - has recently been linked to the Philadelphia 76ers as the centerpiece of a potential blockbuster deal involving Ben Simmons this summer. However, Philly hasn't made an offer for Harden ahead of the deadline, sources tell Wojnarowski.
Harden is averaging 23 points, 10.1 assists, and 8.1 rebounds through 42 games this season. The 2018 MVP's contract contains a lucrative $47.3-million player option for the 2022-23 campaign. If Harden decides to cash in on the option, he could then sign a four-year, $223-million extension to stay in Brooklyn long term or work with the Nets on a sign-and-trade agreement to move him elsewhere.
The Nets are currently 29-18 and without star forward Kevin Durant, who is sidelined with an MCL sprain. Meanwhile, co-star Kyrie Irving is only allowed to play in road games (excluding in Toronto or against the New York Knicks) due to New York City's vaccine mandate.
