NBA Monday best bets: Rockets' woes to continue vs. surging Sixers

After an 8-2 run against the spread entering Friday, we split our NBA picks over the weekend with a pair of ATS wins to close it out. Here are our best bets for Monday:

Jazz (-11, 224) @ Pistons, 7 p.m. ET

At what point do we start to become concerned about the Jazz? Friday's loss to the Raptors - which came with nearly every relevant rotation player on the bench - is excusable. Then came Saturday's defeat to the Pacers, who dominated inside to hand Utah its 10th ATS loss in its last 13 games.

It's no coincidence that defeat came without defensive stalwart Rudy Gobert, who's among a handful of key Jazz players sidelined for Monday's contest, too. Conversely, the Pistons are finally getting healthy, and they showed signs of life with Saturday's win over the Magic. Detroit can keep this one close.

Pick: Pistons +11

Spurs @ Knicks (-6, 212.5), 7:30 p.m.

I've been high on the Spurs all year, but this isn't a spot worth backing this group given the attrition on their roster.

San Antonio enters this contest with seven players ruled out and nine on its injury report, including two of the team's top-three scorers in Keldon Johnson and Derrick White. The Spurs pushed a shorthanded Nets team to the brink Sunday but relied heavily on a nine-man rotation, with four starters playing 36-plus minutes.

That could come back to haunt them against this physical Knicks team, which has held seven of its last eight opponents to 105 points or fewer and covered in each of its last three home games.

Pick: Knicks -6

76ers (-10.5) @ Rockets, 8 p.m.

In an era of hardship exceptions and unpredictable results, the Rockets are the gift that keeps on giving. They enter Monday having lost back-to-back games by a combined 42 points, which capped off a 2-12 ATS run that includes 10 defeats by at least 12 points.

Meanwhile, the 76ers have ripped off a six-game win streak (5-1 ATS) behind the stellar play of Joel Embiid, who's scored at least 31 points in all six contests. If Houston's enigmatic frontcourt can't limit his damage in this one, it'll quickly turn into a blowout.

Pick: 76ers -10.5
