Detroit Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham will have to wait to make his highly anticipated NBA debut.
The NBA's official injury report lists Cunningham as out for his team's season-opening matchup against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday due to an ankle sprain.
Cunningham, who was selected first overall in this year's draft, missed all four of the Pistons' preseason games with the injury. He did provide glimpses of his potential in three summer league contests, however, averaging 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 steals.
The former Oklahoma State star is among the betting favorites to take home Rookie of the Year honors this season.
