Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Malik Beasley announced the conclusion of his jail sentence in an Instagram story posted Tuesday morning, revealing he ultimately served 78 days at Wright County Jail.

Beasley, 24, was originally sentenced to 120 days in jail after he pled guilty to one felony count of threats of violence in early February. He was granted the ability to serve his sentence during the NBA offseason.

The punishment stems from an altercation with a family who parked in Beasley's driveway in Plymouth, Minnesota, last September. After responding to an allegation that Beasley brandished a weapon in the direction of the family's vehicle, police executed a search warrant on the property, leading to the discovery of narcotics and guns.

In an open letter published June 11, Beasley expressed hope that others would learn from his situation.

"I want people to learn from me, because it's going to be one helluva story," he wrote. "This last year is just a chapter, and I hope you stayed tuned to the end."

He added: "I'm not looking for sympathy or anything like that, just to understand I could easily fold and I won't."

Beasley averaged career highs of 19.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in 37 appearances last season, his first full year with the Timberwolves after being acquired from the Denver Nuggets midway through 2019-20. He has three years and $46.4 million left on the contract he signed last November. The final year is a team option.
