Nowitzki says Doncic has already surpassed him as Mavs GOAT
Dirk Nowitzki is ready to hand over the Dallas Mavericks' GOAT title to Luka Doncic.
TMZ Sports caught up with Nowitzki on Sunday before Game 7 of Dallas' playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers and asked if he thinks Doncic will ever eclipse him as the greatest Mavericks player of all time.
"He already has," Nowitzki replied, adding, "He's playing unbelievable."
Nowitzki averaged 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists over his 21-year career in Dallas. The retired German forward helped lead the Mavs to their first and only NBA title in 2011 and was named the Finals MVP.
Doncic, meanwhile, is averaging 25.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game across his first three seasons. The Slovenian phenom is expected to sign a five-year supermax contract extension with Dallas this summer.
