With the start of the play-in tournament less than a week away, Anthony Davis indicated he's now battling groin tightness.

"I'm hurting," the Los Angeles Lakers star said following Tuesday's 101-99 overtime win over the New York Knicks, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "Not more so my body, just my groin got tight. ... I'm not sure about (Wednesday's contest versus the Houston Rockets). I mean, I'm going to get treatment and see how I feel. I want to say I'm going to play, but it was really bothering me tonight."

"Very, very strong possibility that I fight through it and play since the next day is an off day," Davis continued. "But I also don't want to have this lagging and then now I'm out for a couple games."

Davis played a team-high 43 minutes Tuesday, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-23 shooting. He also recorded six rebounds, four assists, and a steal.

The seventh-seeded Lakers are currently set to host the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference play-in tournament. As of now, the loser would face the winner of the play-in matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs for the eighth and final seed.

But Los Angeles still maintains an opportunity to avoid the play-in games. The Lakers can rise as high as fifth, depending on how the No. 5 Portland Trail Blazers and No. 6 Dallas Mavericks fare in the coming days.
