Zach LaVine's career-high 50-point performance wasn't enough to get the Chicago Bulls a win against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, but it did put him in some elite company.
The 26-year-old guard became the fifth player in Bulls franchise history to score at least 50 points in a game, joining Michael Jordan, Jimmy Butler, Chet Walker, and Jamal Crawford. He needs 37 more 50-point performances to tie Jordan's record of 38.
"That dude's a ghost. He's a myth," LaVine said of Jordan after being alerted to that fact.
LaVine scored 39 of his 50 points in the first half, setting a franchise record. Only two NBA players - Kobe Bryant and Klay Thompson - have had more points in the first half of a game in the last 25 years.
