NBA Wednesday betting preview: Nobody's hotter than the Suns

There's no shortage of value for Wednesday's slate, which features a whopping 11 games.

Here are the prime betting angles to keep in mind before locking in your wagers.

Suns @ Magic (+9.5, 214.5)

Anyone consistently betting on the Suns is swimming in it. Phoenix is riding a scorching-hot 39-14 run against the spread and has covered 21 of the last 26. The Suns have been perfectly fine to bet as favorites (19-7 ATS in the last 26) and are a great bet away from home (20-6 ATS).

Worried about them laying a dud on the second of a back-to-back? Have no fear - they've covered five straight in that spot, too.

The Magic lost by 11 to the Nuggets on Tuesday, moving Orlando to just 4-16-1 ATS over the last 21 home games versus teams with winning road records.

Celtics @ Bucks (-6, 230)

After years of thriving as an underdog under head coach Brad Stevens, the Celtics can't buy a win. They're on a dreadful 1-5 run ATS in the last six when getting points. Overall, the Celtics' 44.2% cover rate is tied for the sixth-worst mark in basketball.

Wednesday's road tilt against the Bucks poses a couple more challenges for Boston: the franchise has cashed just one of its last 10 away from home and has lost four consecutive as a road 'dog.

Hornets @ Rockets (+3.5, 223)

No LaMelo Ball for the Hornets on Wednesday night, but this could be a cheap buy on the road team. The Rockets are the league's worst team ATS and are 48 hours removed from snapping a 20-game losing streak - a span that included just a pair of covers.

Both clubs are in the bottom-third of adjusted net rating, but you can see how wide the gap is.

Worst net ratings in the NBA

Rank Team  Adj. Net Rating
21 Hornets -1.30
22 Trail Blazers -1.58
23 Pistons -3.18
24 Kings -4.28
25 Wizards -4.63
26 Thunder -5.37
27 Rockets -6.89
28 Timberwolves -7.01
29 Magic -7.52
30 Cavaliers -7.76

Nets @ Jazz (-10.5, 230)

No team is more comfortable playing on the road than the Nets. Their 122.5 points per game away from home is three more than the next-best team (Milwaukee, 119.5).

Playing the second of a back-to-back, in high altitude, and against the best in the West won't be easy, but the Nets have consistently come through for bettors.

They're on a blistering 9-1 run ATS in the last 10 away from home and have covered five straight as road 'dogs. Overall, the Nets are 13-5 ATS over the last 18, while the Jazz are just 3-10-1 ATS the previous 14 against teams with a road winning percentage greater than .600.
