Report: Nets interested in JaVale McGee
The Brooklyn Nets are intrigued by Cleveland Cavaliers backup center JaVale McGee and could look to acquire him ahead of the March 25 trade deadline, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.
Brooklyn also has its eyes on other bigs and would likely have to acquire McGee through a trade, since he is apparently reluctant to have the remainder of the $4.2-million salary on his expiring deal bought out, Haynes adds.
McGee has filled a backup role behind Andre Drummond and now Jarrett Allen admirably this season. While he only plays 15.1 minutes per game, the three-time NBA champion is averaging 7.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks.
The Nets' current center rotation consists of DeAndre Jordan and Nicolas Claxton. Recently acquired forward Blake Griffin is also expected to play some small-ball 5 for Brooklyn this season.
