The NBA fined Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young $20,000 for directing inappropriate language toward a game official, the league announced Thursday.

The incident occurred immediately following the Hawks' one-point loss to the Mavericks in Dallas on Wednesday.

The league deemed the play that Young disputed a correct non-call. Under the rules, the Mavericks' Willie Cauley-Stein was entitled to a normal step on a screen from behind, which he took, and which led to incidental and legal contact between Cauley-Stein and Young.

Young complained about the non-call after the game.

"I'm not going to run away from the ball with four seconds left and we're trying to win the game," Young said. "That's just the most frustrating part. Not really having an opportunity to make a play at the end is just really frustrating."
