CP3 after latest Suns loss: 'We're not playing well enough'

Losers of three straight and four of their last five games, the Phoenix Suns are in a funk. Point guard Chris Paul has a simple explanation as to why.

"We're not playing well enough right now," Paul told reporters after Wednesday's 102-97 loss to his former Oklahoma City Thunder squad. "I'm not going to say we're not good enough, but we're not playing well enough right now."

The Suns were without Devin Booker for the second straight game but still jumped out to a 32-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second, however, Phoenix mustered just 10 points.

Paul finished with 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting. While the Suns' other four starters combined to shoot just 29.5% in the game, the veteran still shouldered some of the blame.

"We play in spurts," Paul said. "If I knew exactly why, shoot, we wouldn't be losing. We play really well in spurts, we defend in spurts, we push the tempo in spurts, then at some point in the game we start turning the ball over, myself included."

The Suns host the Golden State Warriors on Thursday before embarking on a three-game road trip to Dallas and New Orleans.
