Wayne Ellington signs 1-year, $2.6M deal with Pistons

The Detroit Pistons signed sharpshooting guard Wayne Ellington to a one-year, $2.6-million contract, his agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Injuries to Ellington's Achilles and ankle limited him to 36 appearances with the New York Knicks last season. The 32-year-old averaged 5.1 points over that sample size while shooting 35.5% on four 3-point attempts per game.

Ellington figures to slot behind Delon Wright and Svi Mykhailiuk on the Pistons' depth chart at shooting guard, but he should still be able to carve out a role when called upon as a floor-spacing specialist.

The UNC product was drafted 28th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2009.
