Ujiri says he hasn't discussed extension with Raptors

Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri says he hasn't yet discussed a long-term contract extension with the organization.

"No, I haven't had discussions, and honestly, you know, coming out of this, things are a little raw," Ujiri said Thursday, according to CBS Sports' James Herbert. "I'm going to reflect a little bit, and we will address it when it's time to address it. It's not something I'm going to do in the media and publicly."

The longtime executive also told reporters he is not stalling the process.

"There's no distractions," Ujiri added, according to The Athletic's Blake Murphy. "I understand that it gets talked about, but when there is a time to have a conversation, we will have that conversation."

Ujiri's current contract expires after next season. The Raptors signed head coach Nick Nurse to a multi-year extension Tuesday, and Ujiri added Thursday that the team is also "close" to extending the contract of general manager Bobby Webster.

Ujiri joined the Raptors in 2013 and almost instantly revived the franchise, culminating in an NBA championship last season.

The rumors surrounding Toronto as a potential future destination for Giannis Antetokounmpo are seemingly partly related to his existing relationship with Ujiri.
