The Brooklyn Nets have formally interviewed Jacque Vaughn for their head coaching position, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports.

Vaughn coached the Nets to a 7-3 record, including a 5-3 mark inside the NBA bubble, after replacing Kenny Atkinson on an interim basis in March.

The 45-year-old apparently left a strong impression on Nets ownership and gained the approval of several veteran players during the restart, according to Charania.

Los Angeles Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue, longtime San Antonio Spurs bench boss Gregg Popovich, and Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd are reportedly among Brooklyn's other head coaching candidates.

The Nets - who were without the services of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Spencer Dinwiddie, among others - were swept out of the first round of the playoffs by the Toronto Raptors.
