LeBron: Playing without fans is 'a very weird dynamic'

LeBron James is still adjusting to the reality of playing games without fans in the Orlando bubble.

"I am getting more and more used to being out there. It's a very weird dynamic. I haven't played in an empty gym in a very, very long time," the Los Angeles Lakers star said Saturday, according to USA Today's Mark Medina. "It's been a very long time since no one has been watching me play the game. I'm just trying to find that rhythm and lock in."

James believes the last time he played in an empty gym was more than two decades ago, before his freshman year at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, in 1999-00.

"I don't think I played in an empty gym for a game that really counted," he said. "I definitely love playing in front of the fans. The fans are what make the game. Without the fans, I wouldn't be who I am today. To all the fans out there that come watch me play, I miss you guys and hopefully someday I can get back to that interaction."

It's unclear when fans will be able to attend NBA games again, but ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday that the league could push back the start date for the 2020-21 season to allow for arenas to reopen to the public.
