While 22 teams prepare to restart the 2019-20 season inside the NBA's campus at Walt Disney World, the New York Knicks are looking toward the future.

The Knicks formally interviewed free-agent head coach Tom Thibodeau on Thursday, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 62-year-old is reportedly the top candidate among a lengthy list of names in consideration for the Knicks' head coaching job. Others thought to be in the mix include Mike Miller, who took over as the team's interim coach midseason; former Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks bench boss Jason Kidd; former Knicks star and Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson; and a number of assistant coaches in the league.

Thibodeau, the 2010-11 NBA Coach of the Year, has amassed a career 352-246 (.589) record through five seasons with the Chicago Bulls from 2010-15 and parts of three campaigns with the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2016-19.

He also served as the Timberwolves' president of basketball operations until his dismissal midway through the 2018-19 season.
