Jazz's Clarkson: 'Shut up and dribble' critics should look in mirror
Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson turned the tables on critics who believe professional athletes should stick to sports rather than comment on the world's social and political events.
"Everybody who's saying 'shut up and dribble,' maybe they should shut up and go look in the mirror," Clarkson said Sunday, according to the Salt Lake Tribune's Eric Walden.
The 28-year-old added that he weighed sitting out the remainder of the season, in part because of the Black Lives Matter movement but also because of potential injuries affecting his impending free agency. Ultimately, he decided to continue playing.
"I wanna go hoop," Clarkson said. "I've been bored sitting at home."
The 6-foot-4 combo guard has averaged 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in just over 25 minutes per game off the Jazz's bench since being acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers in late December.
