Oklahoma City Thunder vice president of basketball operations Troy Weaver, Los Angeles Clippers assistant GM Mark Hughes, and Brooklyn Nets assistant GM Jeff Peterson have emerged as serious candidates for the Detroit Pistons' GM vacancy and will engage in conversations this week, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Weaver has been with the Thunder since May 2008. He assists GM Sam Presti "with roster development and day-to-day basketball operations" and is also responsible for the team's NBA draft preparation, free agency, and summer league roster, according to the Thunder's website.

Prior to his stint in Oklahoma City, Weaver worked for the Utah Jazz as a scout and was director of player personnel for the club between 2004 and 2008.

Weaver was believed to be under consideration for the Chicago Bulls' GM job in April, but the Thunder reportedly didn't allow him to be interviewed. Chicago eventually hired former Philadelphia 76ers executive Marc Eversley for the role.

The Pistons reportedly began their search for a new GM in late May. The new hire is expected to work closely alongside senior advisor Ed Stefanski and head coach Dwane Casey as the team likely proceeds to rebuild ahead of next season.
