Spurs' Aldridge ruled out for rest of season
The San Antonio Spurs ruled LaMarcus Aldridge out Monday for the remainder of the 2019-20 season after the veteran power forward underwent a procedure on his right shoulder in late April, the team announced.
The 34-year-old initially injured his shoulder in a game against the Utah Jazz on Feb. 21. He had surgery April 24.
Aldridge ranked second on the team in scoring with 18.9 points per game and first in rebounding (7.4) and blocks (1.6).
The Spurs were four games behind the eighth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies when the season went on hiatus in mid-March but will be among the 22 teams competing for a playoff berth when the NBA resumes in Orlando in late July.
The franchise owns the longest active postseason streak in the league, having qualified in each season since 1998.
