The Sacramento Kings seem "very likely" to retain head coach Luke Walton and vice president of basketball operations and general manager Vlade Divac, sources told The Athletic's Sam Amick.

Both are under contract through the 2022-23 campaign.

Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and others within the ownership group were reportedly frustrated with the franchise’s front office and coaching. The 62-year-old apparently voiced his displeasure through text messages in a season-long group chat that included Walton and Divac.

Before the 2019-20 NBA season was brought to a halt, Sacramento was turning things around. The Kings went 7-3 following the All-Star break and had won 13 of their last 20 games overall.

Sacramento is 28-36 and sits 3 1/2 games back of the Memphis Grizzlies for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Kings are seeking their first postseason appearance since 2006.
