Some members of the New York Knicks feel well-positioned to trade for a star player whenever one becomes available, SNY's Ian Begley reports.

The Knicks have seven first-round picks in the next four seasons to dangle in a potential blockbuster trade.

"It's the best path for us," a Knicks front-office member told Begley.

The organization attempted to use its wealth of draft capital ahead of this season's trade deadline in the hopes of acquiring D'Angelo Russell, but that pursuit proved to be unsuccessful.

New York sat 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 21-45 record at the time the NBA's hiatus began March 11.
