New York Knicks president of basketball operations Leon Rose appears to be eyeing his first major move with the organization.

Rose is targeting Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand for the same role with the Knicks, a source told Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News.

However, Brand is under contract with the 76ers next season and the Knicks would need to compensate Philadelphia in order to bring him in beforehand. Rose is reportedly monitoring Brand's current job situation to see if the 76ers will part ways with him following the 2019-20 campaign.

The Duke product has done a respectable job during his brief two-year run as an executive. Brand's notable moves include the acquisitions of Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler along with the free-agent signing of Al Horford.

Philadelphia has made back-to-back second-round playoff appearances under Brand's guidance.

New York reportedly holds a team option on current general manager Scott Perry, who is also said to have an opt-out at the end of the current season.
