If the Memphis Grizzlies don't ship Andre Iguodala to one of his preferred destinations by the Feb. 6 trade deadline, the veteran wing is prepared to sit out the remainder of the season, The Athletic's David Aldridge reports.
After earning an All-Star nod and two All-Defensive Team selections earlier in his career, Iguodala emerged as a crucial piece of the Golden State Warriors' dynasty. After moving Iguodala to the bench, the Warriors made five straight Finals appearances from 2015-19, capturing titles in 2015, 2017, and 2018. They also won an NBA-record 73 games in the 2015-16 regular season.
However, the 36-year-old hasn't appeared in a game since the Warriors traded him to Memphis last offseason. Iguodala and the Grizzlies mutually decided he would remain away from the team while it explored trade opportunities. He's owed $17.2 million this season - the final year of his contract.
The 24-25 Grizzlies currently occupy the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference. The team is 13-5 since Christmas, a hot streak that includes wins over fellow postseason contenders, including the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets.
