Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray was helped to the locker room after suffering an apparent left ankle injury against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

Murray suffered the injury when he appeared to roll his ankle while contesting Terry Rozier's 3-point attempt late in the second quarter:

After landing, Murray was unable to put any weight on his left leg, and he was visibly wincing in pain. The Nuggets ruled him out for the remainder of the contest at halftime.

X-rays on Murray's ankle came back negative.

He appears to be taking the injury in high spirits, giving recently promoted point guard PJ Dozier a vote of confidence postgame. Dozier would step up if Murray misses any time:

Murray dealt with ankle injuries just last season. The floor general was forced to miss six games due to a left ankle sprain he suffered in January. Later in April, he tweaked the same ankle but wasn't forced to miss time.

The 22-year-old is averaging 17.9 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.2 rebounds over 39 games this season while serving as a key secondary-scoring option behind Nikola Jokic.
