Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis was scratched late prior to a game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night due to right knee soreness, the team announced.

The Mavs initially said Porzingis would return from the injury, but he's since been downgraded to out and will miss a ninth straight contest.

The Latvian went through most of the Mavericks' practice Monday for the first time since being held out of the club's Dec. 31 clash with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In 31 games, Porzingis is averaging 17.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks.

He last played on Dec. 29 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
