Bledsoe out approximately 2 weeks with fibula fracture

After securing their 18th consecutive victory Saturday, the Milwaukee Bucks were faced with an unfortunate injury diagnosis to one of their core players.

Starting point guard Eric Bledsoe will be sidelined approximately two weeks after an MRI revealed a right fibula avulsion fracture, the team announced.

Bledsoe exited Milwaukee's game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday with what was diagnosed at the time as a right shin contusion. He missed the Bucks' game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday due to the injury.

The floor general appeared to suffer the ailment during a cross-body collision with teammate Wesley Matthews while attempting to fight through a screen set by Grizzlies big man Jonas Valanciunas, according to The Athletic's Eric Nehm.

Bledsoe is averaging 15 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.9 rebounds while connecting on 34.4% of his 3-pointers through 26 appearances for the Eastern Conference-leading Bucks.

The 30-year-old is in the first season of a four-year, $70-million contract. His deal includes nearly $55 million in guaranteed money, according to Spotrac.

Reserve guards Donte DiVincenzo and George Hill figure to take on additional minutes at the point in Bledsoe's absence.
