Westbrook notches 139th triple-double to pass Magic for 2nd all time
Russell Westbrook continues to march through the NBA's record books.
The electrifying Houston Rockets guard picked up his 139th career triple-double Saturday to pass Magic Johnson for second all time.
Westbrook finished with 28 points, 13 assists, and 10 boards in the Rockets' 126-123 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
He trails only Oscar Robertson, who leads all players with 181 career triple-doubles.
"For me, that's a great accomplishment, especially growing up never thinking I'd play in the NBA," Westbrook said, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. "Now, I'll be in the history books."
Congratulations to Russell Westbrook for passing me and having the 2nd-most triple-doubles in NBA history! https://t.co/y3KgYXsjJB

Westbrook joined the Hall of Fame guard in 2017 as the only players in league history to average a triple-double for an entire season. The 30-year-old has since replicated the feat twice more.
Westbrook already holds the NBA record for the most triple-doubles in one season (42) and the most consecutive triple-doubles in a campaign (10).
Houston moved to 1-1 after dropping its 2019-20 season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks.
