Bidding on Obama's game-worn high school basketball jersey tops $60K
The auction for a high school basketball jersey believed to have been worn by former United States president Barack Obama is nearing an end.
Bidding on the No. 23 Punahou High School jersey reached $62,500 on Friday evening with a little over a day left. Heritage Auctions, the company selling the jersey, said every detail of it matches the one Obama was photographed wearing on the 1979 Hawaii state championship team.

Punahou spokesman Robert Gelber told Jennifer Sinco Kelleher of The Associated Press that the school is "enormously proud" of Obama but can't confirm the jersey's authenticity.
"We simply cannot make comment on the authenticity of the jersey itself," he said. "It's not something we are able to do."
The final price will be announced Sunday.
