Draymond: It's 'crazy' to believe Warriors won't make playoffs

The Golden State Warriors may not enter the 2019-20 campaign looking like the team that dominated the Western Conference over the past five seasons, but defensive stalwart Draymond Green is adamant it's a mistake to doubt them.

"I've heard people say we're not gonna make the playoffs. That's crazy to me," Green told ESPN's Rachel Nichols on "The Jump." "I mean, that's just total disrespect, but no different than the disrespect we've all been getting for years."

The Warriors have won three NBA championships since 2015. But they enter 2019-20 with a different outlook with Kevin Durant departing to the Brooklyn Nets and Klay Thompson expected to miss the majority of the regular season recovering from a torn ACL.

Regardless, Green is relishing the opportunity to be viewed as an underdog alongside two-time MVP Stephen Curry as the duo looks to keep Golden State relevant in a league as wide open as ever.

"I like it. You know, being the underdog," Green said. "It's been a while since we been the underdog. But it brings that underdog chip back, and I miss that chip. I'm pretty sure Steph missed that chip, and some of the stuff Klay been texting me this summer, I'm positive he misses the chip."

Despite losing Durant and parting ways with Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston, the Warriors added All-Star point guard D'Angelo Russell to aid the offense while Thompson is on the mend.

The team also helped its long-term outlook by locking up Green to a four-year, $100-million extension and re-signing Thompson to a five-year, $190-million max deal.
