The Phoenix Suns are reportedly expected to hire Jeff Bower as senior vice president of basketball operations, according to 98.7 FM Arizona's Sports Station's John Gambadoro.

Bower was most recently the Detroit Pistons' general manager under former team president Stan Van Gundy from 2014-18.

The Suns' GM role has been shared by James Jones and Trevor Bukstein on an interim basis since Ryan McDonough was dismissed in October.

Suns owner Robert Sarver has broached the possibility of retaining Jones in a leadership role where the former player would maintain some decision-making power, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Jones has reportedly sat in on Sarver's interviews for front-office roles.
