Kobe meets fan who returned stolen high school jersey

Kobe Bryant had the opportunity to thank the fan who recovered his stolen Lower Merion High School jersey in person during a recent trip to China.

Liu Zhe, a native of Harbin, China, purchased the uniform from an online seller in October 2018, but after realizing it was the same one that had been stolen from a display case at Lower Merion nearly two years earlier, he decided to mail it back to the Pennsylvania school.

While in China for the 2019 FIBA World Cup draw, one of Bryant's associates reached out to Liu to set up a meeting between the two, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. Liu had met Bryant several times before, but this meeting held extra significance for him.

"I asked Kobe, 'Do you remember me?'" Liu said. "He told me, 'Yes, thank you for returning the jersey. You did a great thing.'"

Bryant autographed a photo of him and Liu from his basketball camp in Los Angeles in 2018 and included the message, "Do epic things!"
