The Los Angeles Lakers will inject a feel-good story into the dog days of their failing season by calling up 33-year-old G Leaguer Andre Ingram and signing him to a 10-day contract, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Ingram made his NBA debut for the Lakers last season at the age of 32, playing two games and scoring 19 points in one of them. He's averaged 8.6 points in 35 games for the South Bay Lakers this season.

The Lakers appear to be packing in their playoff hopes following season-ending injuries to Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram and the decision to place LeBron James on a minutes restriction. Losers of five straight, they sit seven-and-a-half games out of the West's final playoff spot with 16 games left.
