Brown: Celtics need to fix 'toxic' atmosphere

As the Boston Celtics continue to stumble toward the finish line, they've lost five of their last six games.

Celtics guard Jaylen Brown believes multiple factors are causing the team's recent struggles and described a "toxic" environment.

"To be honest, I'm not feeling good at all," Brown said, according to The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn. "The losing, it's not a good feeling. I'm not too good about that.

"Because right now it's not good. It's toxic. I can't really point out one thing. I don't have all the answers. I'm just going to try to be part of the change. I'm going to try to do my best."

All-Star Kyrie Irving has borne most of the blame as reports of his discontent with the franchise raise questions about his leadership.

Brown said no single player can resolve the team's on- and off-court difficulties, though one player can undermine the attempt to fix things.

"I just try to come out and play hard and hopefully that sparks some (change)," Brown said. "But it's not just up to one person. It's up to the whole group. Everybody has to be on page. If one person's not on page, it's going to affect the whole group. I just try to come out and play hard and see where that leaves me."

Boston (38-26) is fifth in the Eastern Conference and sits 2 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Celtics face the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena on Tuesday night.
