Knicks remove Durant photo from season-ticket renewal ad

Things are never boring at Madison Square Garden.

The New York Knicks removed a photo advertisement for 2019-2020 season-ticket renewals from their ticket holder website Sunday. The photo used in the ad featured Golden State Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant.

"Game action photos are used all the time for marketing purposes, but given everything going on, we took the precaution of taking the photo down," the Knicks said in a statement, according to the Daily News' Stefan Bondy. "To be clear, it was one of several rotating photos on the website."

The Knicks have been heavily reported as a potential free-agent landing spot for Durant, so much so that he angrily addressed the rumors last week. New York figures to have as much as $75 million in salary cap space next season, enough for two max contract additions.

It's plausible the NBA could fine the Knicks for tampering because of the ad. The league fined the Atlanta Hawks in 2013 for mentioning Chris Paul and Dwight Howard - two non-Hawks players slated to become free agents - in a team letter to season-ticket holders.
