Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook made history at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Thursday night by recording his eighth straight triple-double in a 117-95 victory over the visiting Memphis Grizzlies.

The eight-time All-Star recorded 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 15 assists in 33 minutes of action, passing the legendary Michael Jordan for the longest streak of triple-doubles since Wilt Chamberlain 51 years ago.

Jordan notched seven consecutive triple-doubles from March 25 through April 6, 1989. Westbrook hit that mark on two previous occasions (Nov. 25 - Dec. 9, 2016, and March 22 - April 4, 2017).

The 30-year-old continues to average a triple-double with 21.2 points, 11.1 boards, and 11.2 assists across 46 games for the 35-19 Thunder. He's finished each of the last two seasons averaging one, with Oscar Robertson the only other player in league history to do so even once.

Oklahoma City is in Houston on Saturday night where Westbrook, who now has 125 career triple-doubles, can tie Chamberlain's record mark of nine straight set in 1968.
