The Toronto Raptors may have emerged victorious, 123-120, but the veteran-laden squad had few answers for the Dallas Mavericks' rookie superstar, Luka Doncic. The Slovenian sensation finished with 35 points on 14-of-24 shooting, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.
In addition to setting new career highs in points and rebounds, the 19-year-old Doncic set a handful of milestones with his second career triple-double.
Doncic easily became the youngest rookie in NBA history to record a 30-point triple-double, besting the previous mark set by Michael Jordan in 1985, according to Basketball Reference. At the time of his feat, His Airness was just over a month away from turning 22.
Understandably, Sunday's line against Toronto also made Doncic the first teenager, rookie or otherwise, to record a 30-point triple-double, according to ESPN Stats & Info. The only other teenager in NBA history to record a triple-double was Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz last April.
The last Maverick to record at least two triple-doubles in one season was Jason Kidd during the 2010-11 season, according to Mavs.com's Dwain Price. Kidd, enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame last year, ranks fourth all-time in career triple-doubles with 107.
In comparison, LeBron James' second career triple-double came 23 days after his 20th birthday, in his 118th career outing. Doncic reached that benchmark in career NBA game No. 48.
