Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse worked the sideline on Tuesday night when his team battled the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.

Nurse was not with the Raptors during the day, however, as he was back home in Iowa with his family following the passing of his 94-year-old mother, Marcella, late on Monday.

"I'm here because my mother wouldn't want it any other way," Nurse said hours prior to tipoff, according to the Toronto Sun's Mike Ganter. "So I'll coach the game and coach the next one tomorrow and then get back (to Iowa) and take care of business."

The East-leading Raptors are at Oracle Arena on Wednesday to take on the reigning two-time NBA champion Golden State Warriors for the second game of their four-game road trip against elite Western Conference competition.
