The Philadelphia 76ers begin the Jimmy Butler era Wednesday and it will cost sophomore guard Markelle Fultz his starting job.

Head coach Brett Brown confirmed to ESPN's Tim Bontemps that JJ Redick will join Ben Simmons in the backcourt against the Orlando Magic. Butler and Wilson Chandler will be the new starting forwards with Joel Embiid continuing to man the middle.

Redick, 34, started in all of his 70 appearances for the 76ers in 2017-18, scoring 17.1 points per game and shooting 42 percent on 3-pointers. But the 13-year veteran has made just two starts so far this season, averaging 17.9 points in 15 appearances.

Chandler's addition to the starting rotation gives Brown a switchable defender and league-average 3-point shooter. The 31-year-old Chandler is averaging just 3.8 points in four appearances since returning from a hamstring injury.

The Sixers acquired Butler in a trade sending two of Philadelphia's best 3-point threats in Robert Covington and Dario Saric to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
