New York Knicks coach David Fizdale spoke with Kristaps Porzingis on Friday morning to clear up any misunderstanding about the star big man's rehabilitation from ACL surgery, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.
Fizdale told reporters Thursday that Porzingis hadn't progressed past light jogging. After the comments were made, Porzingis posted pictures of himself in mid-sprint, contradicting his coach's assessment.
The first-year Knicks coach conceded he was unaware Porzingis had begun sprinting.
Fizdale believes his player's social media activity was simply born from frustration over any perceived doubt that Porzingis was determined to return to full health.
"He took it personally. It got to him that people would think that (he was behind in his rehab)," Fizdale said.
