The Milwaukee Bucks have petitioned the NBA to clear the remaining $10.5 million left on Mirza Teletovic's deal, sources tell ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Bucks are expected to be approved for relief because the Bosnian forward hasn't played since Nov. 7, 2017. He's now beyond the one-year anniversary of his last game since being forced to retire with life-threatening blood clots in his lungs.

Teletovic, who had three seasons left on his contract, must undergo an examination to determine that his condition will keep him from being medically cleared to play.

The Miami Heat recently experienced a similar situation when the NBA approved their exception for Chris Bosh after the All-Star was forced to sit out over a year due to blood clots in his legs.

The 33-year-old Teletovic will likely conclude his career after averaging 8.1 points and 3.2 boards over six seasons.
