Report: Cousins signs multi-year deal with Puma after Nike declines to match

DeMarcus Cousins is set to become the most prominent face on Puma's roster of athletes. Cousins' former shoe sponsor, Nike, reportedly declined their right to match the terms of the center's new deal, a source told ESPN's Nick DePaula.

The newest member of the Golden State Warriors is the latest to join the apparel-maker's fledgling stable of basketball talent. Puma has previously inked a wide range of talents, both emerging and established, in the past year, including the Phoenix Suns' Deandre Ayton and Sacramento Kings' Marvin Bagley III, Boston Celtics' Terry Rozier, the San Antonio Spurs' Rudy Gay, and WNBA star Skylar Diggins-Smith of the Dallas Wings.

With four All-Star appearances and two All-NBA selections to his name, Cousins ranks as the most successful men's player with ties to Puma, who has aggressively sought to re-establish their Puma Basketball brand in recent years.
