Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson is set to become a free agent next summer and doesn't plan to sign a discounted contract to remain in Golden State, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.

The Warriors will run into an expensive cap sheet if both Thompson and Kevin Durant choose to re-sign, as Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala are already guaranteed to eat up approximately $75.8 million in space for the 2019-20 season.

Golden State also has to be aware of Green's status, as he will be free to sign a new deal in 2020 and could be in line for a massive raise from the $18.5 million he's owed in 2019-20.

Despite his reported unwillingness to sign a discounted deal, Thompson has previously said he is satisfied with his current situation.

"I think when guys go into free agency, they're searching for a situation like mine or similar to our team," Thompson said in September, according to the Mercury News' Mark Medina. "So I'm perfectly content here."

Thompson made his fourth consecutive All-Star appearance last season. He averaged 20 points while shooting 44 percent on 7.1 threes per game.
