Report: Knicks to waive Noah by start of regular season
The New York Knicks are reportedly ready to move on from veteran center Joakim Noah.
New York is prepared to waive Noah before the regular-season roster is set on Oct. 15 barring the sudden emergence of a trade proposal, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
Noah is still owed $38 million from the $72-million contract that former Knicks president Phil Jackson signed him to in 2016. Since then, Noah has battled persistent injuries and a PED-related suspension, and is now entangled in a self-imposed exile after he clashed with former head coach Jeff Hornacek over a lack of playing time last season.
It's unclear if Noah will give back some money after being waived, but the Knicks can open roughly $13 million in cap room for next summer by parting ways with the 33-year-old pivot.
