Through six years in the NBA, Andre Drummond has never made more than two 3-pointers in an entire season. If new Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey has his way, Drummond might have a new career high by opening night.

"Two, three 3-pointers per game is not out of the question," Casey told reporters at Detroit's media day on Monday, according to The Athletic's James Edwards III.

Drummond, who's never attempted more than one 3-pointer in a single game, acknowledged that Casey has given him the green light.

"If I'm contested, I'm not going to shoot the pull-up three, but if I'm wide-open and someone backs up off me, I'm gonna shoot it," Drummond said Monday, according to ESPN.

The two-time All-Star told theScore earlier this summer that he was making 200 corner 3-pointers a day in preparation for the coming season.

"I don't do stuff (on the court) just to have fun. If I'm taking those shots, (it's because) I'm working on it for the upcoming season. Those are shots that I'm gonna be taking," Drummond said.

Drummond went 0-for-11 from behind the arc last season and is 5-of-30 for his career, having last made a 3-point basket on Jan. 15, 2017.

The 25-year-old big man has averaged 13.6 points, 13.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 assists since being selected ninth overall by Detroit in the 2012 draft. Drummond, who's led the league in rebounding two of the last three years, upped his free-throw percentage from around 38 percent for his career to over 60 last season.
