After pledging to donate $2 million to Hurricane Florence relief efforts earlier this week, Michael Jordan joined other members of the Charlotte Hornets at Second Harvest Food Bank on Friday to help pack food boxes.

Jordan said the boxes will be distributed to residents in Wilmington and Fayetteville, N.C., and in Myrtle Beach, S.C., - three of the areas hit hardest by the hurricane, according to The Associated Press.

"I was very proud, obviously, to see all the players come here and understand what the fight is and understand how we can lend a hand and help out our community," Jordan said, per the Hornets' official Twitter account. "Hopefully they learn that to give back, it's all about the heart, it's not about how much you make, it's not about what you own, it's about sharing and caring with other people."

Jordan, who grew up in Wilmington, also plans on visiting the area at some point.
