The NBA 2K League continues to expand. Teams owned by the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Atlanta Hawks have joined the eSports outfit, the league announced.

The backers of the four new squads will each pay a $750,000 expansion fee to gain entrance to the 2K League for the next three seasons, league sources told ESPN's Jacob Wolf. An expansion draft will reportedly be held Sept. 28.

The inaugural season of the 2K League - which is set to wrap up with the championship match on Aug. 25 - has featured 17 teams.

Following the latest additions, the nine NBA franchises without their own team of dedicated video game professionals will be: The Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
