LeBron James may have left the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer, but the King continues to leave his mark on Ohio.
The LeBron James Family Foundation is set to open the I Promise School in his hometown of Akron on Monday. Approximately 240 at-risk third- and fourth-graders will attend the institution, according to Theresa Cottom of the Akron Beacon Journal.
James is expected to be at the opening - which will also be his first press conference since signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. The four-time MVP released a series of tweets Sunday, listing the event as "one of the greatest moments" of his life.
The public school will cost the district $2.9 million to cover the salaries, supplies, and other basic necessities, Cottom notes.
James' foundation and its partners have contributed over $2 million toward the building and funding, according to the foundation.
