Denver Nuggets rookie Michael Porter Jr. reportedly underwent an additional surgery last week for the herniated discs he suffered just one game into his freshman year at Missouri, according to NBA.com's Steve Aschburner.

Porter's camp reportedly believes the procedure will cure the ailing back injury that caused the forward to slide from near the top of the draft to the Nuggets at 14.

Aschburner adds that Porter's camp doesn't expect him to sit out the entire season.

The 20-year-old underwent back surgery in November to repair two discs in his spine and was initially expected to miss the entire college season. He was cleared for basketball activity in February, returning to Missouri to play in their final two games before the team was eliminated in Round 1 of the NCAA tournament.

At 6-foot-10, Porter is capable of playing either forward position while stretching the floor and creating off the dribble. He can become a top scoring option for the Nuggets if he reaches his potential.

Porter played just two minutes in his debut at Mizzou, but was on the floor for 51 minutes in the team's final two games, averaging 14 points and nine rebounds while shooting 31 percent on 29 combined shots.
